Bali's Mother Temple - Besakih
Besakih Temple - the largest holy site in Bali and home to the island’s Mother Temple, located on the slopes of Mount Agung (3,142 meters). The temple is comprised of 3 main complexes dedicated to the Hindu Trinity. It was built during the late 8th century AD. This tour also includes visits to:
- Celuk - Home of the Silver works industry, a village offering outstanding bargains in hand wrought silver jewelry.
- Bukit Jambul - gorgeous rice-terraced fields with a stop for lunch (not included).
- Goa Lawah (bat cave) – believed to be connected directly to sacred Mt. Agung. The roof of this cave is blanketed by thousands of bats; an awesome sight, especially if the resident pythons have crawled out on a ledge to "eye" the tourists and worshippers.
- Court House of Justice at Klungkung - Constructed in the late 18th century, the walls and ceilings are covered with paintings depicting episodes and scenes of the horrors awaiting those who do evil while on earth.
- A visit to the adjoining Bale Kambang (Floating Pavilion) and nearby museum complex.
Approximately length of this tour is 8 hours.
